Chargers News: Bolts Updated Draft Pick Number After Loss to Bills

The Chargers are currently picking in the top five currently.

The Los Angeles Chargers dropped their 10th loss of the season, effectively knocking them out of playoff contention. Even if they had won out, it would have taken a miracle to make the playoffs via multiple AFC teams losing.

Despite losing against the Bills, the Bolts showed that they are not going to lay down and die for the rest of the season. Honestly, the team looked rejuvenated under the control of interim head coach Giff Smith.

They were only a few plays away from beating the Bills, though that did not come to fruition. The good news is that the Chargers will be picking #5 in the NFL Draft, right now.

Their Draft placement is not guaranteed though, as there are still two games left in the regular season. There are many games that can alter the position the Chargers pick at.

For instance, the New York Jets. Should the Jets lose to the Commanders, they would leapfrog the Chargers via a tiebreaker. The Chargers beat the Jets in Week 8.

What last night taught us is that the Bolts will not just allow themselves to "tank." They have every intention of finishing the season strong, and that nearly started last night.

Even if the Chargers happen to win out, they will still be picking in the top 10. The front office will be busy this offseason, as they have 7 picks in the NFL Draft. We highly expect the new GM to pick the best available players.

We could see the team moving down to secure more capital, as there are several holes to fill on both sides of the ball. The Chargers could be stingy and not want to budge on moving down, which could net them an immediate impact player WR like Malik Nabers from LSU or TE Brock Bowers from Georgia.

We will see where the Chargers land by season's end, but having pick #5 can work in their favor in more ways than one.
