Chargers News: Brandon Staley Gets Honest About Potentially Being Fired
63-21.
That was the final score from the Los Angeles Chargers game against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night. LA found themselves down 42-0 at halftime, and things didn't really get much better in the second half.
It was an embarrassing performance from the Bolts and one that could have some real consequences for this team. Head coach Brandon Staley has already been on the hot seat all year long, and it was set straight on fire with this game against Las Vegas.
There is a very good chance that Staley will get fired in the coming days, if not sooner. And when asked about his job status, Staley himself sounded like someone who knows his days are numbers in the Chargers organization.
Staley knows his time is limited with the team, even if he gets until the end of the season. But once the year is up, he is gone.
He has completely underperformed with this team, and Thursday night was the icing on the cake. The Chargers came out flat from a short week and looked like they had already checked into their vacation suites.
Their playoff hopes are all but gone now, and they will be heading into the offseason with more questions than answers. This team needs to figure something out, even more than getting rid of Staley because something isn't working.
There is no excuse for how this team played in a primetime matchup against a division rival. Maybe the problem is all Staley, but he seems to be just a part of the issue.
This franchise had been underperforming well before Staley came around. So, it starts from the top down, and until the way they go about business changes, things will likely remain the same.
