After losing their sixth game of the season, 23-20, to the Green Bay Packers last Sunday, your Los Angeles Chargers' defense might look a little different for this Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens.

According to Chargers beat reporter Daniel Popper of The Athletic, head coach Brandon Staley is going to make some personnel tweaks for this week's game.

For this Sunday's game, it looks like three-time Pro Bowl safety Derwin James, could be moving down to the slot cornerback position, also regarded as the Star position according to Staley.

Popper reported that James played a majority of Sunday's game at the star position as he logged 39 of 74 snaps that included penalties. It's also not the first time he's played this position as he filled in for an injured Chris Harris in week 2 of the 2021 season.

Staley believes that putting players in the right scheme and in the right position will benefit them coming into Sunday's game.

“[We've got] full confidence in our way of playing [and] the way that we teach and the way that we scheme,” Staley said.

This season, Staley and his defensive scheme have been often questioned and have left fans concerned as this year's Chargers team has one of the best defenses on paper but currently ranks as one of the worst as they have given up the most passing yards to opponents and continue to give up leads late in the game.

Despite the recent struggles that have been the Chargers defense, Staley believes that structurally, change isn't needed.

“I don’t think structurally there needs to be a change.”

This past Sunday was a prime example of that as Packers quarterback Jordan Love has only thrown for over two hundred-fifty yards twice this year. On Sunday, he threw for 322 yards with two touchdowns, zero interceptions and finished with a completion percentage of 65.5%, the second-highest completion percentage he has had this year.
