Chargers News: Brandon Staley Provides Concerning Update on Injured Joshua Palmer

This isn't great.

At 4-4, the Chargers enter the roughest, yet most critical part of their schedule.

They'll do so without a major offensive piece, as Joshua Palmer, who was already being forced to step up in response to a season-ending injury to WR Mike Williams, appears to be slated to miss extended time. He's being placed on the short-term IR, which requires a player to sit at least 4 weeks.

Brandon Staley's comments about Palmer's seemingly non-severe knee sprain are not promising whatsoever, as suggesting he may be out at least the IR-designated timetable, along with some time after.

With must-win games against the Lions (this upcoming week), Buffalo, Baltimore, and Kansas City ahead on the calendar, playing without Palmer is going to be a major issue for QB Justin Herbert, and the Bolts offense as a whole.

In his absence, expect more Quentin Johnston usage, as he's transitioned into a full 3-down role since Palmer's injury. Even if he's productive, however, one of the Chargers' advantages heading into the season was their depth at WR (Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Josh Palmer, Quentin Johnston). They're now without that advantage when they need it most.
