The Los Angeles Chargers missed out on a huge general manager candidate, one of which they had planned to interview. The Washington Commanders officially hired the San Francisco 49ers assistant GM Adam Peters.

The Chargers were certainly hoping to at least get some face time with Peters, who has helped build one of the strongest teams in the entirety of the NFL.

Sadly, that will not come to pass, as the Commanders quickly hired Peters. It's no shock that the Commanders were quick to bring Peters on. They also have one of the biggest upsides in terms of vacant opportunities.

Peters now holds the #2 pick in the draft, nine total picks, and around $70 million in cap space. He can also select the new head coach, as the team announced they let go of Ron Rivera.

Peters might have been the perfect pick for the Chargers, but the team is in the opposite position as the Commanders are. The good news is that the Bolts have the #5 pick in the draft. We imagine they are likely to trade back to acquire more draft capital.

Whoever takes over the Chargers GM position will have their hands full, but the idea is to return them to AFC relevancy.
