Chargers News: Expert Has 3 Final Requests for LA's Roster After Draft
The period in which the Los Angeles Chargers currently find themselves should be one of the smoother ones out of the past few months right? They were able to successfully maximize the cap space they had going into free agency, come away with some great selections in this year's draft, and have themselves a solid group heading into the summer.
However, they were not able to address every single need this offseason. Nasir Adderley shocked the world by retiring super early into his career and left a hole at safety in the process. John Johnson III continues to be linked to the Bolts but no real progress has been made on that end.
Then you look at the TE position and it was a bit disappointing for a good amount of fans that one was not drafted by LA. Michael Mayer had become a popular prediction as draft day one rolled around but they could not help themselves from going with an elite WR option in Quentin Johnston.
It was still a great haul overall and drafts usually never go the exact way that teams hope because every other franchise is trying to take the best players as well but it's promising to know that LA still has room to grow.
The last thing you'd want is for them to get comfortable and not keep an eye out for any potential additions. The Athletic's Daniel Popper shared his three final wishes for the Chargers before the season kicks off.
"Tight end. Cornerback. Safety. In that order. The biggest surprise of the draft for the Chargers was that they didn’t pick a tight end. Entering draft weekend, I did not think they had the requisite pieces in their tight end room to effectively operate new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore’s system. Specifically, they are lacking an even average run-blocking tight end. My opinion has not changed. The Chargers were interested in a tight end on Day 2, but ultimately the board did not fall their way."

Johnson III may just end up in powder blue and that list will drop to just two requests but LA's front office is definitely still hard at work.
