Chargers News: Giff Smith Explains How LA Stays Dialed-In For Season Finale, Even With No Stakes

The Chargers are looking to go out with a victory.

At 5-11, your Los Angeles Chargers may not be a very good team this season, but they are at least fighting until the very end. They were eliminated from playoff contention weeks ago, but they have continued to try to win games.

One of the biggest motivations for this team has been to get interim head coach Giff Smith a victory. They came close a few weeks ago, but now there is only one opportunity left to make it happen.

Smith has helped keep this team together after they fired head coach Brandon Staley, and it has been great to see. Multiple players have spoken about their support for Smith, and they want him to go out on top, as Joe Reedy of The Associated Press details.

“The motivation to get ready for this game is not an issue. You have seen these last two games, these guys have come out and played hard. We just have to find a way to get over the hump,” Smith said. “As far as anything personal goes, that’s kind of irrelevant to me right now. I want to do right by these guys and the organization and go out there and beat Kansas City.”

This has been one of the more trying years in recent memory for the Chargers, so ending with a win would be massive for the morale. It would also be against division rival, the Kansas City Chiefs, which would bring a smile to the face of the organization.

Kansas City is expected to rest some of their main players with the postseason coming next week, but a win against them would still be sweet. The Bolts know that it won't be easy, and they will have to do whatever it takes to come away on top this week.
