Chargers News: Head Coaching Could Be The Difference in LA Dethroning The Defending Champions

Will Brandon Staley prove the world wrong?
In this story:

One of the growing narratives around the NFL lately is that if the Los Angeles Chargers do not see some real success in the playoffs once the 2023 season gets rolling, head coach Brandon Staley may be left looking for a new team. It's clear that he has not won as many games as previously expected despite having a vast amount of star power on his hands.

The Bolts collapsed at the end of 2022 and many can say that it was bound to happen with so many of their key players injured or playing through serious discomfort. Staley will have a new offensive coordinator alongside him in Kellen Moore and stars will be returning from injury but that will be all the more reason as to why he'll have more pressure on him to succeed.

LA's biggest boss battle will be against the Kansas City Chiefs and they really are the perfect test to see where they stand. They are the defending champs and the best team in the AFC West... what separates the two?

Columnist Tim Crean believes it all comes down to the coaching and that LA may need to look elsewhere for a sideline leader if they want to leapfrog Kansas City.

"The gulf between head coach Brandon Staley and the Chiefs' Andy Reid couldn’t be bigger right now.Reid is the best offensive coach in the league. He’s so solid and so comfortable with his team, the offense was doing the ring around the Rosie in the huddle last season before scoring touchdowns. And in the Super Bowl, he made the vaunted Philadelphia Eagles defense look silly at times."

"Brandon Staley was one of those coaches who got a job because he spent a small amount of time with Sean McVay. For some, like Zac Taylor and Matt LaFleur, that’s worked out. For others, like Kliff Kingsbury and Staley, it’s not looking so good.If the Chargers want to overcome the Chiefs in the AFC West, it might take firing Staley to do it."

Let's see how the year plays out and if Staley can take care of business!
