The NFL preseason is underway, meaning the real games are just around the corner. As we get closer, the hype for the Los Angeles Chargers continues to grow.

Star quarterback Justin Herbert is looking to improve on a very successful season from last year and lead the Chargers farther into the postseason.

The team has a strong wide-receiving core with Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and rookie Quentin Johnson. But the key for this team could end up being on the defensive side of the ball.

They will be getting back some main pieces to their defense this season after a year of injuries. One of those players is cornerback JC Jackson.

Jackson was the prized free agent signing for the Chargers last offseason, but injuries really limited him in his first year with the Bolts. He played in just five games but will be looking to get back to his All-Pro status this season.

It remains to be seen if he will be available for the team's week one game against the Miami Dolphins at home, but he is hopeful to return soon.

Jackson wants to ensure he is healthy enough to return and make a difference. The worst thing he can do is rush things and then reinjure himself.

During his last two full seasons in 2020 and 2021, Jackson was a turnover machine. He had 17 interceptions combined and was a menace for the New England Patriots' defense.

It was a major reason the Chargers signed him to a massive deal in the offseason. So it's a smart approach being taken by him and the team as he works his way back.

As Jackson works his way back, the team will move forward. He should be a key contributor this season, which will go a long way for this team.
