Chargers News: Jim Harbaugh Explains Plan For Revitalizing Bolts To Colin Cowherd
One of the biggest reasons that Jim Harbaugh was hired to be the new head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers has everything to do with his ability to teach toughness to the teams he has coached.
The Bolts have not necessarily been a weak team, but they have also appeared to lose their fight at different times this season. Harbaugh is not the type of coach who would allow players to give up, and he explained his plan for revitalizing the team when he appeared on Colin Cowherd's show.
"Your teams get tough and physical immediately," said Cowherd.
"Your teams get good and they all get physical very fast. Can you explain, what is the messaging? If it's easy, everybody does it. What do you do to instill that in all your teams quickly?" Cowherd asked of Harbaugh.
"Good ol fashioned hard work, good ol fashioned teamwork," Harbaugh responded.
While this may sound like a standard answer that most coaches give, it's something that has worked for Harbaugh many times over. During his introductory press conference, he referred to the weight room as an "all-you-can-eat buffet."
The passion and messaging that Harbaugh brings might be deeply rooted in old-school thinking, but a return to fundamentals never hurt.
Harbaugh also spoke to Cowherd about players needing to get their positions right and their assignments right. A return to fundamentally sound football is a good way to reset the thought processes of players.
Harbaugh is a proven winner and instilling that winning culture into the Chargers players will be instrumental in returning the team back to AFC relevance.
