Chargers News: John Spanos Releases Heartfelt Note Following Keenan Allen Trade
The NFL world can be fickle for players at times, as the business side of things can take precedence and beloved players become traded. That was what occurred last night as perennial Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen was traded to the Chicago Bears.
Allen spent 11 seasons with the Chargers and will go down as one of the most legendary players to dawn the powder blue. Sadly, his time with the team has come to an end.
Allen was asked to take a pay cut to alleviate some of the cap room issues the Chargers were facing, but he declined. Allen has been playing at a high level his entire career, so it makes sense he would decline.
Fans and players have voiced their displeasure with Allen being traded, but what's done is done.
Chargers president John Spanos posted a heartfelt tribute to Allen, which is a nice gesture during this sad moment.
“There will only be one Keenan Allen, and we cannot thank him enough for the contributions he has made to our organization both on and off the field.”

Allen is truly special and it's depressing that he will not be able to finish his career with the Chargers. He will no doubt bolster the offensive prowess of the Bears.
When his career is over, we fully expect him to be welcomed into the Chargers Ring of Honor. For now, we must watch his career from afar.
