Chargers News: John Spanos Reveals HC and GM Hiring Will be Extensive
The Los Angeles Chargers will have a busy offseason, as the team is set to take on the task of bringing in a brand new GM and HC. Brandon Staley and Tom Telesco were relieved of their duties after the team's blowout loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Despite wanting to find replacement coaches before the draft happens, the Chargers will reportedly take their time in finding the right people. This is good news, as it appears the last few hires have not been the right people to lead this organization.
John Spanos broke down just how extensive the search for their new leaders will be.
"Team president John Spanos said the team would have 'no limitations' on their next head coach and general manager pairing, from experience to salary, attempting to dismiss the narrative that the organization is unwilling to spend for coaches and executives."

Having "no limitations" is a good sign that the Chargers might do far more diligence in bringing in their next front-office leader and head coach. The team has too much talent on their roster to be dealing with a 5-9 record.
Mounting injuries, the J.C. Jackson contract debacle, and draft picks have all been messy. They will need someone to come in and make an immediate impact, allowing the Chargers to regain their AFC West dominance.
The good news is they still have Justin Herbert, but they will need a new offensive line to protect him from being hurt. He broke a finger on both hands this season.
Instead of taking fault for the past few coaches or dwelling on the mistakes made, Spanos also doubled down on the team's plans to make their search as exhaustive as possible.
"Right now, to decisively say yes or no to any candidate would be a big mistake," he said. "I'm not going to limit the search in any way."

The hope is that Dean and John Spanos will ensure they find the right GM who can secure successful young talent with the seven draft picks in the 2024 draft, and find a way to combat the cap issues the team will see in 2024.
Also, finding a head coach who can get the most out of this dynamic group is of the utmost priority. We will see what the Chargers look like in 2024, but there are plenty of strong candidates to think about for the HC position.
