Your Los Angeles Chargers had chances to take down the Green Bay Packers last weekend, but couldn’t come up with the big play at the end. It was another missed opportunity for them to get back to .500 on the season, and now their record sits at 4-6 heading into the final week of November.

At the end of the game against Green Bay, rookie wide receiver Quentin Johnston had a chance to score the go-ahead touchdown late but dropped the ball. This was another miscue in a tough first season in the NFL for the receiver.

It would be easy to blame Johnson for the loss, but quarterback Justin Herbert went a different direction. He didn’t throw his receiver under the bus and instead took the blame for the throw as well.

"I think Q is a fantastic receiver... I could've given him a better ball," Herbert told reporters on Wednesday. "It's not just on him, it's on me too. He's not gonna let this last one affect his next one."

Per Timothy Rapp of Bleacher Report

This is incredible accountability from Herbert and shows the kind of leader that he is. Even if it wasn’t his fault, Herbert knows that he is the one who needs to take the blame, not Johnson.

On the year, Johnson only has 20 catches for 183 yards and one score. It hasn’t been the first season in the league that the former first-round pick likely envisioned, but he is continuing to push forward.

"Got a pass when the ball was thrown to me, should've caught it. No excuse for it. Lack of concentration on my part," he told reporters after the game. "I feel like the game could've definitely went the other way if I would've caught it that ball. Just a lack of concentration."

Per Valentina Martinez of Chargers Wire

Johnston didn’t make excuses for his drop either, taking ownership of the mistake. Hopefully, he can learn from this to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

LA heads home to take on the AFC-leading Baltimore Ravens (8-3) this weekend, in a very tough matchup. Getting a win could help save their season, but a loss would send them even farther down the standings, likely cutting off their playoff hopes.
