Chargers News: Justin Herbert's Finger Injury Might Be More Troublesome Than Expected

Possibly more serious than we thought.

Your Los Angeles Chargers' dynamic passing attack hasn't quite been the same after their quarterback suffered an injury earlier this season.

Justin Herbert suffered a nasty finger fracture in Week 4 and his past two games show that the ailment may have been more serious than anyone thought. Kris Rihm of ESPN has more:

"Since Week 4, when Herbert fractured his finger in the third quarter against the

Las Vegas Raiders

, he has 653 passing yards, the fewest he's had in any three-game span in his career. Against the Raiders, he had career lows in completions (13) and passing yards (167). His four interceptions in the past three games are tied for the most in his career during any three-game span, and it's just the second time in his career he has had a completion percentage below 60% over a three-game span."

LA won their game against the Raiders but Herbert's passing numbers dipped significantly in the aftermath of his injury.

The team's early Week 5 bye allowed some extra rest and recovery but losses to both Dallas and Kansas City now have the Bolts far off the fringes of playoff contention.

Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler and Gerald Everett's injuries haven't helped Herbert's options in the pass game but several missed throws and poor play fall on his shoulder as well.

Keenan Allen got held in check against the Chiefs but it's up to the other receivers on the team to help their injured QB out.

A scoreless second half against Kansas City doomed LA to another loss as Herbert hopes to get back on track against Chicago in Week 8.
