Chargers News: Kyle Van Noy Questions If LA Wants Him Back Via Twitter
Prior to the 2022 season, Kyle Van Noy was released by the New England Patriots in a move that opened up $5 million in cap space for the franchise. Keep in mind that the veteran linebacker had previously won two super bowls with the team and rejoined them on a one-year deal. In the midst of his ninth season, it was clear that New England wanted to give his role to some younger players so Van Noy where he felt he was needed.
That is where the Los Angeles Chargers came into a play, a squad looking to contend but needed more personnel that had actually been to the promised land before to help build that winning culture. Van Noy was able to help provide just that for them.
LA was primarily looking to him for leadership and he fully accepted the role. Soon after his signing, reports began surfacing of Van Noy holding multiple players-only meetings to get the team united on all of their common goals. Even though Justin Herbert and Austin Ekeler were the clear vocal leaders the whole season, Van Noy certainly helped them upon his arrival.
However, his contract has now expired and he has hit free agency. The Chargers have been super busy trying to add new talent to their roster, figure out what current players they will hold on to, and see if Austin Ekeler will ever warm up to their offerings. Van Noy hasn't agreed to a deal with anybody just yet and he sounded a bit doubtful when replying to a fan that expressed he wanted him to resign with LA under his own Twitter thread.
Fans were not too sure what Van Noy meant by this. He could be alluding to the front office not giving him a deal he likes or directing the question literally at the Twitter user themselves but Chargers fans wasted no time in reacting to his tweet and doubling down on their pleads for him to return to LA.
