The Los Angeles Chargers are in the middle of an extensive search for their 18th head coach in franchise history. The team will engage in an exhaustive search for the right man for the job, and hopefully, it will happen soon.
While the Chargers are looking around for their next head coach, they aren't letting anyone get in between them and their special team coordinator, Ryan Ficken. Chargers insider for ESPN Kris Rhim said the team had blocked the New York Giants from interviewing Ficken for their special team's vacant job.

Ficken and the special teams were among the few bright spots in 2023, and they'll look to continue the great work on that side of the ball.
The Giants fired their special teams coordinator, Thomas McGaughey, earlier in the week, and they sent in a request to interview Ficken, but the Bolts denied it. Ficken has spent two seasons with the Chargers and has done tremendous work in Los Angeles.
In his first season with the team, he led the special teams to among the NFL's best, and he did more of the same in 2023. A lot will be different in Los Angeles in a couple of weeks, but Ficken will remain constant.
Ryan is here to stay, and this will be looked at as an underrated move by the Bolts.
