Chargers News: LA Center Says Lack of Run Game Hurt The Team in 2022
The Los Angeles Chargers are getting their feet wet as OTA's are in full swing. This is the second week of OTA's, and although many of their players haven't participated, the players who have are looking great.
The media have caught up with several players and have discussed different topics, including Chargers center Corey Linsley. Linsley will enter his third year as a Bolt and look for a healthy and successful season. The 31-year-old veteran knows a thing or two about the run game and expressed to Chargers insider Daniel Popper that the run game was lacking big time last season.
“Overall, it’s really obvious: The run game lacked.”
“The focusing part of it will help us a lot,” Linsley said Wednesday. “There was a little bit of where we didn’t ever get good at one thing last year in the run game. We had our plays that were successful, but they were individual plays. There wasn’t a scheme, and we never felt like we got in a flow. Some of it’s on us, some of it is on coaches, some of it is on everybody, right? It’s a collective effort here and it always will be. Majoring in something … I think it will help us take a step forward.”

The playoff game against the Jaguars is a microcosm of what Linsley is discussing. The Chargers only rushed for seven yards on seven carries in the second half of that game, which was a big reason why the Bolts blew that lead.
A ton of it had to do with their former offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi. His play calls were unoriginal and limited much of what Justin Herbert and the offense are capable of. All that will change with Kellen Moore calling the shots on that side of the ball.
We cannot wait till Austin Ekeler attends OTAs/ training camp and see what the team looks like at full strength with Moore's offense.
