As we previously talked about following some hints from head coach Brandon Staley, it is looking more and more likely that the Chargers will look to trade down from their 21st first-round draft pick in a couple of weeks. General manager Tom Telesco doubled down on this and revealed that the team is in serious consideration to do so.

A lot of talented names at multiple positions have been rumored to be drawing interest from Los Angeles but it seems like the Chargers believe these prospects will still be there if they are selecting a little later. Scouting talent in an upcoming draft is definitely one of the toughest components of sports and these guys could either make or break a franchise.

However, Telesco is fully focused on the benefits that would come with trading down in the draft. He shared that he is excited at thought of getting potentially another pick while not missing out on the players they are targeting.

"Certainly when you’re in that late first, there’s probably a little bit more of a thought,” said Telesco. “Essentially at that point you’re taking a player that at least you have graded as a second-round player. That’s all really subjective. But if you can trade back a little bit and pick up a pick and still get maybe even the same player or close to the same player, then it’s a pretty good deal to do.”

But if the Chargers do opt to go this route, I highly doubt bigger names such as Bijan Robinson and Michael Mayer will still be available. Some fans were spectacle if they could even land them at the 21st pick, let alone early second round.

Maybe LA does not view them as their primary targets anymore despite having selected them in multiple mock drafts. We'll know more as the draft and gets closer and we'll be sure to keep you updated !
