Look, I understand that many Chargers fans are still recovering from the fact that JC Jackson was brought in to be their primary cornerback and $66 million are still owed to his name for the next four years. Even though he has shown great progress this offseason and could fully return at some point in 2023, LA has a couple options for the meantime at his position.

Michael Davis took on his Jackson's responsibilities after he went down and he was able to prove why the Bolts should consider holding onto him long-term. The 28-year-old suited up for 12 games last season and defend 15 passes. However, he will hit free agency next season and LA will have to decide if he's worth the money commitment.

However, their front office may just decide to take a closer look at the current free agent market and there they may stumble across one of the more misunderstood CB's in the NFL. Most fans look at Marcus Peters' 47 combined tackles and one interception in the 2022 season and assume he in a non-factor now. However, I am a firm believer that he just needs to be in the right system like the Bolts to turn back the clock.

It's super easy to forget that 2022 was Peters' first full season back from an ACL tear. His knees have taken a heavy load over the years as he has been named to the Pro Bowl multiple times and also was regarded as one of the best defensive players in the nation back in 2015.

Knee recoveries are no joke as Chargers fans have seen this with Jackson but Peters has had way more time to get comfortable on the field again and he should be looking to impress.

Experts from LastWordOnSports are all for the Chargers signing Peters and believe he could be a difference-maker in a division that is filled to the brim with talent.

"You can’t have too many good cornerbacks in today’s NFL, especially when you share a division with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Peters’ aggressive style of play meshes well with the Chargers defense, and an extra interception or two could be enough to determine the outcome in a few divisional clashes."

The Chargers have been really quiet when it comes to the remaining free agents these past few and I fully expect them to announce some more changes soon.
