Chargers News: Los Angeles Now Tops NFL In Key Category
The Los Angeles Chargers had their second consecutive dominant primetime win this week, beating the New York Jets on Monday Night Football, 27-6.
Coming off their 30-13 Sunday Night Football win over the Chicago Bears, the Chargers defense continued their dominating ways, holding the Jets to just two field goals and 270 total yards of offense.
Even more impressively, the Chargers defense forced three turnovers, while their offense didn't give the ball away once against a stout Jets defense.
That plus-three turnover margin added to one that was among the best in the National Football League, and now has the Chargers tied for the top spot in the entire league in that category. That Chargers are tied with the Cincinnati Bengals at plus-nine.
Head coach Brandon Staley praised his offense for holding onto the football after Monday night's win.
"I thought we were able to just do enough but probably that the best thing that we did was take care of it tonight," Staley said. "We didn't have any of those plays that allowed them to get back into the game, to allow their defense to kind of truly get going so I thought that was a big positive for tonight."

This huge turnover margin is a big reason the Chargers were able to get back to 4-4, as they've won the turnover battle in consecutive weeks. The Bolts now sit by themselves in second place in the AFC West, and are just one game back of the seventh and final AFC Wild Card spot.
Defensive back Alohi Gilman, who forced one of the three fumbles in the game, talked about the team's emphasis on winning the turnover battle.
"It's huge. The turnover margin is something that Coach Staley and the staff harped on early on in training camp and in OTAs," Gilman said. "It's a part of who our identity is and we'll continue to build on. It's a big advantage for us on the field."
