Chargers News: Mike Williams Officially Undergoes Successful ACL Surgery

Good to see!

Los Angeles Chargers star wide receiver Mike Williams has undergone successful ACL surgery for a tear he suffered in LA's Week 3 win against the Minnesota Vikings, per his official Twitter/X account.

Williams finishes his 2023 campaign really productive on a per-game basis, putting up 7 catches for 121 yards and a touchdown in the game he exited, which followed an 8 catch, 83-yard performance in Week 2 against the Titans.

It's been an unfortunate series of injuries for Mike Will, as he's played 1 full season in his career.

He's been highly productive while out there, especially with Justin Herbert at QB, but the uncertainty about his health has led to questions about his long-term future with the Bolts.

Nothing is for certain, but the selection of WR Quentin Johnston in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, who has a similar physical build and skill set to Williams, indicates that the Chargers are probably pivoting away from him long-term.

Now entering his age-30 season on a large contract paired with his injury history, it'll be tough for LA to rationalize keeping him around. The Chargers have a lot of other areas they need to invest in besides WR, and could easily find themselves cutting their losses on Mike Will.

It's definitely something to monitor, but we hope for a quick and successful recovery for the stud WR, and whether he's a Bolt or not next season, wish him well.
