Chargers News: New England's Quarterback Issues Could Benefit Bolts Greatly
The Los Angeles Chargers will take on the New England Patriots this Sunday, in a game that can act as the playoff eliminator for the Bolts. Though the premise of playing against the Patriots used to be worrisome, the team has not looked anywhere as good as they had with Tom Brady at the helm.
Both Bailey Zappe and Mac Jones have been two of the worst quarterbacks in the entire league, and that could lead to a decision that causes more of an implosion for the Pats.
Interestingly, the Patriots could also surprise everyone and activate Malik Cunningham off the practice squad and put him in to get some much-needed reps. Both Cunningham and Zappe were taking reps with the first team, while Jones did not.
He has not been listed on the injury report thus far, and it could be that Bill Belichick is going to test all available options.
While speaking to Jeff Miller of The LA Times, Miller asked Chargers coach Brandon Staley what he plans to do with their preparation for the Patriots.
"Asked Wednesday who he was preparing to defend, Staley answered, “All three.”

There is something to be said about being prepared for anything, which Staley will need to be to pull his team out of the downward spiral they are currently in. Though the hope is to win, the Bolts might also use this game as the precursor to firing Staley, which many teams have already done so in the NFL.
The Raiders fired Josh McDaniels and the Panthers fired Franch Reich. It is a bit strange that the Chargers have not decided to part ways with Staley earlier on, in hopes that it would rebound their season.
Should the Bolts fall to an even lower Patriots team, that might be exactly what happens.
