Chargers News: New GM Joe Hortiz Speaks About What Makes Chargers So Special
The Los Angeles Chargers made their hiring of new GM Joe Hortiz official earlier on Tuesday. Six days after the Chargers officially hired Jim Harbaugh as their next head coach, they've picked their next GM in former Baltimore Ravens Director of Player Personnel Hortiz.
Hortiz takes over for Tom Telesco, who served as the Chargers' GM for a decade. Hortiz brings over two decades of experience in the Ravens' front office, helping build and scout for one of the most consistent rosters and teams.
The hiring has received lots of praise across the NFL world, but Hortiz sounds equally pleased about his new team. After the hiring, Hortiz shared what made the Chargers' job so appealing to him.
“Brand, the uniforms, foundational building blocks already on the roster, a new training facility, SoFi Stadium and a clear commitment from the Spanos family to dedicating every resource possible towards bringing a Lombardi trophy home to our fans; it’s all there," Hortiz said.

It looks like things are finally coming together for the Chargers. They've now nailed their core hires of a respected coach and GM in Hortiz and Harbaugh, after a string of unsuccessful coaching hires.
With these building blocks in place, the Chargers' expectations are starting to grow, and the franchise can return to being looked at as a more legitimate contender.
All these factors will also be key to bringing in more free agents and fans. With high-quality facilities, new uniforms, one of the NFL's best stadiums, and a top coach and GM, the Chargers are reinventing their culture and reputation. Free agents will believe in what the organization has done through these hires and enjoy the facilities, while fans will want to come to watch this team, which has been mocked for not having fans show up to SoFi as of late.
