Things have gone according to plan for Justin Herbert individually.

Since the Los Angeles Chargers selected the quarterback with the sixth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, all he's done is become one of the best young quarterbacks in the league.

For a team in transition, Herbert came out of the gates exceptionally quickly in the Chargers' first year at SoFi Stadium, and Offensive Rookie of the Year honors followed after an explosive season for the signal in his maiden voyage as a pro.

But even though Herbert has played at a level beyond his years since he first arrived in the league, playoff success hasn't resulted.

And following a shocking collapse in the Wild Card round last January, a change was made in the organization when they brought in Kellen Moore to take over as offensive coordinator.

Moore comes to LA after an impressive four years as the Dallas Cowboys OC, turning Dallas into a balanced but high-powered attack.

One thing that Moore had a penchant for was utilizing the deep ball, a trait that sees his new quarterback having high hopes ahead of this season, as Herbert told ESPN's, Lindsey Thiry.

"I think that's always the goal for an offense, is having those explosive plays, whether that's through the run game or the pass game. Kellen, he has a great mind. He's done such a great job of kind of interpreting exactly what he wants for this offense." -- Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert

Moore will have all the weapons he needs to turn the Charger offense into one of the most explosive units in the NFL this season. Austin Ekeler returns for another season in LA, along with wide receiver Keenan Allen and tight end Gerald Everett. Joining that group will be Quentin Johnson, a rookie WR whom the Chargers drafted in the first round of this past draft following a 1,000-yard season at TCU, where he became the Horned Frogs' deep threat.

If all goes according to plan, Los Angeles should have a potent attack in 2023, spearheaded by an offensive coordinator that's looking for a fresh start and a young star quarterback that's happy to have him in tow.
