Chargers News: NFL Columnist Forecasts LA's Win-Loss Record Ahead of Preseason
Your Los Angeles Chargers are five days away from their first preseason game against the Rams. This will be the first time we see the Bolts in action, and even though the starters won't be playing, it'll be exciting to get a glimpse at the team.
The regular season is a little over a month away; however, we're so happy that football is back. The NFL consists of constant change year by year, and it is no different with the Chargers. Although the team's core is intact, there are some differences from last year's team; however, the team is looking for different results than last season.
The Chargers will be in the thick of things as the season winds down, and we'll see if they can live up to those expecations. Many are bullish on them, but others aren't as much, like NFL columnist for Bleacher Report Gary Davenport.
He predicted every NFL division's standings before the start of preseason, and he predicted LA would finish with the same record as last season and finish second in the AFC West.
Los Angeles Chargers: 10-7
In theory, you can make an argument that the Chargers have a better roster from 1 to 53 than the Chiefs. Justin Herbert is a high-end quarterback. There's offensive talent galore. A top-10 offensive line. And the pieces on defense to put together a formidable unit. But the Chargers also have a habit of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, so they are relegated to wild-card status.

More of the same for the Bolts? According to Davenport, it looks that way. The Bolts maneuvered through an injury-riddled season and still managed to secure a playoff spot at 10-7.
If they are healthy, there is no way they will repeat that record. Now I know the rest of the AFC got better, but so did the Bolts. They are bringing back two key pieces on both sides of the ball in offensive lineman Rashawn Slater and defensive end Joey Bosa; each missed a combined 27 games.
LA also snagged Pro Bowl linebacker Eric Kendricks and will be much improved in their run defense. The pieces and talent are there; now, it must all come together, and I believe it will.
I'm bullish on the Bolts, and so should every Charger fan. Talk is cheap, they must prove it, and it will all start soon.
