Chargers News: NFL Twitter Responds To Tom Telesco Canning
After Thursday night's 63-21 loss at the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders, even the most optimistic of fans probably realized that Brandon Staley was unlikely to coach a single game for your Los Angeles Chargers during the 2024 NFL season.
But the fact that he got canned immediately is the kind of swift, resilient action that yours truly is a bit shocked Los Angeles owner Dean Spanos is capable of making with regards to his hired personnel.
It was the right call, given how disappointing LA's defense was becoming.
The other shocking tidbit out of Chargers land was Spanos' decision to also fire longtime GM Tom Telesco. Telesco, 50, had been at the helm of your Los Angeles Chargers for a decade before being relieved of his duties today.
Needless to say, after some very lean years with an aging Phillip Rivers and prior to Justin Herbert, plus an utterly disappointing run with Staley, Telesco's roster construction and sideline talent appraisal clearly was lacking that special sauce.
Bolts fans took to their keyboards to weigh in on the Telesco firing. This reappropriated rection of pure joy was, well, telling:
Another fan mocked Staley, who made one playoff appearance in his three seasons with LA (this year was cooked). He also lost that one playoff game in spectacular fashion. LA had been leading 27-0 at one point during last year's stunning eventual wild card game comeback loss.
One fan heaped praise on Las Vegas, whose dominant play (despite a losing record of 6-8) sure appears to have been the straw that broke the camel's bath.
