The Los Angeles Chargers hired offensive coordinator Greg Roman earlier this offseason to pair with new head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Of course, it wasn't too surprising of a hire since Roman and Harbaugh go way back. Roman and Harbaugh first coached together at Stanford in 2009, where Harbaugh was the head coach and hired Roman as the associate head coach. They then coached together on the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-2014.

Roman revealed more insight into his relationship with Harbaugh.

"I cherish everything about him. He's a special guy in every sense of the word. He's a great person first and foremost, so it's always good when you have a ton of respect for the person you work for and I certainly do. I think for me personally, he was the first guy that really believed in me and gave me an opportunity when I went to Stanford with him and then the 49ers and whatnot. We had a good run there."

From what Roman has said, it's clear that he and Harbaugh have a strong relationship, which will ideally correlate to what the Chargers offense accomplishes on the field next season.

This is now the third team Roman and Harbaugh have worked together on. Even when they haven't worked on the same team together, Roman has stayed involved with the Harbaughs by working for Jim's brother, John Harbaugh, on the Baltimore Ravens from 2017-2022.

Beyond their personal relationship, they've also had success on the field together. Roman and Harbaugh last coached together on the 49ers, where they advanced to three NFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl appearance. If they can replicate that with the Chargers, the Bolts will have plenty to cheer for.
