Day one of the 2023 NFL Draft had its fair share of surprises throughout its entirety. We witnessed multiple RB's get selected early for the first time in a while, Will Levis did not find out his next home at that time, and your Los Angeles Chargers went with a WR that not many folks saw coming.

The majority of the fanbase was praying Bijan Robinson would fall to them but that did not even come close to happening. However, it was pretty clear that LA's front office would still take the offensive route and when it came down to it, it looked like two WR options were the move in either Zay Flowers or Jordan Addison.

But GM Tom Telesco revealed that Quentin Johnston was the guy he had his eye on for a while and did not hesitate to welcome him when he was available. Johnston possesses a great mix of height and speed and went on to touch on exactly what made him the obvious choice for the Bolts.

"Being a 6-foot-4, taller receiver that is able to create real separation at the line, as well at the top of the route," said Johnston. "Then, what I can do with the ball in my hands is something that, I feel like, it's a no-brainer for somebody to pick me. I set records in the Big 12 my first two years with yards after catch."

He is coming off of a stellar season at TCU and looks to be another elite target for Justin Herbert. With a brand new offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore, LA looks to make serious noise this season.

Speaking of Moore, the Chargers' brand new WR has already chopped it up with him.

"Yes, sir. A little bit," said Johnston. "We got straight to business, as far as football talk and stuff like that, seeing what I could obtain, drawing routes up — my favorite routes, favorite concepts. Then, going over my film."

It's going to a huge rookie season for this young stud.
