LA should be contending again this season!

Pro Football Focus released their position rankings for the upcoming 2023 season and there was a patten among the rankings in regards to a certain team. The Los Angeles Chargers and their players kept coming up as the team had six different players ranked towards the top or at the top of the position. It's quite a testiment to what the Chargers have built and a huge reason as to why they should be real contenders in the AFC once again.

First off, Justin Herbert came in at number five on the quarterback rankings. Herbert has grown a ton since his rookie season and has established himself as a top signal caller in the league. His ability to sling the ball all over the field is special and just one of the reasons he is ranked so highly.

Next comes in running back Austin Ekeler. Ekeler has been one of the premier backs in the league over the last few seasons and is one of the driving forces for this offense. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield is special and gives this team an added dimension to work with. Being ranked at nine shows how highly valued he is around the league.

Also ranked at number nine is Rashawn Slater. He is a cornerstone for the Chargers offensive line and had a coming out party in his rookie season two years ago. He received a PFF grade of 84.0 and only allowed one sack in the 175 snaps that he took. Slater will again be a massive piece to this team going forward.

Alongside Slater is center Corey Linsley. Linsley is the anchor the offensive line and leads by example for the team. He posted a PFF grade of 74.2 and gave up no sacks last season when playing. Coming in as the third ranked center is an impressive feat for the Chargers veteran.

Defensive players Joey Bosa and Derwin James round out the list of top tier Chargers players and for good reason. When healthy, Bosa is a dominant force and easily can disrupt the backfield. Jame is a ballhawk whose coverage skills are some of the best in the game. Bosa ranked number six in edges and James. came in as the only Los Angeles player to be ranked first at his position. Quite a feat indeed!

With all this talent, the Chargers have pressure on them this season. They need to reach the postseason and go on a run otherwise changes could be in order. Luckily for them they have the talent to do so, they just need to put it all together.
