Chargers News: Sports Writers Has Bolts As Team That Needs to Ace Their Draft Picks
When realistically looking at the Los Angeles Chargers, they are soon going to enter a stage in their franchise in which they'll have the opportunity to either be labeled legit threats to win the AFC West and contend for a championship or remain in the spot they've been in these past three seasons.
Some coaching changes were just made, a big move involving Austin Ekeler could still be in the works, and some key guys in Trey Pipkins III and Donald Parham were brought back. Justin Herbert has another offseason to get healthy and all signs seem to point towards his shoulder surgery going well.
However, Jared Rubin of CBS sports views LA as an organization that needs to make the most of their draft picks in a couple of weeks to ensure they have a fighting chance of winning these next couple of seasons. He hasn't been sold on what he's seen from them and believes Brandon Staley will begin taking a lot of heat if more playoff success doesn't come.
"The results have yet to come on defense, and this team needs to be about
something
other than "
Justin Herbert
is awesome and we have
Austin Ekeler
and our coach sometimes goes for it on fourth down," said Rubin. "The Chargers desperately need to add some explosiveness in this draft, whether with a perimeter receiver or a tight end, or a complement to Ekeler in the backfield. They also, again, need to fix their run defense, because it was not nearly good enough last season. Picking from the back half of the first round, there's a lot of work to be done here."

The Bolts will start off their draft process with the 21st pick in the first round. An overwhelming favorite for them is highly-coveted RB Bijan Robinson. The Texas product is labeled as one of the best players at his position . However, it is unclear if he'll drop that far down or if LA will opt to trade down.
Nonetheless, I agree that they must make the right decisions heading into this and if they go about right, they could build themselves quite the squad.
