Chargers News: Super Bowl Champ Center On Reeling AFC Rival Pinpointed As Bolts Trade Candidate

He'd be a big add.

Your Los Angeles Chargers' offense hasn't had nearly the same firepower it did in the early portion of 2023, for a multitude of reasons.

Chief among them is the club's poor offensive line play due to injuries across their depth.

Corey Linsley left an All-Pro void for Will Clapp to fill, but one analyst believes another center on the trade market could help Kellen Moore's unit get back on track. Daniel Popper of The Athletic revealed which center the Bolts should be targeting.

David Andrews

Center is not a plug-and-play position, of course. Learning a new offense and developing chemistry with the quarterback and fellow offensive linemen are tough factors to overcome for this position specifically. Still, Andrews is an established veteran. The Patriots are 2-5. Andrews does not have any guaranteed money remaining on his deal, according to Over the Cap. This is an interesting scenario to consider if the Chargers believe Linsley will miss the rest of the season — even if the Patriots might not even think about trading away Andrews, a Bill Belichick favorite and one of their team leaders.

New England already traded with LA earlier this season in a deal that sent troubled corner J.C. Jackson back to Foxborough.

Even as the Patriots won against their division rivals Buffalo last week, their record still indicates a need to rebuild rather than return to championship contention.

Tom Brady's absence hasn't treated New England kindly as Andrews remains one of just a few players from the team's 2018 Super Bowl roster.

The talented offensive lineman could serve Justin Herbert well as the currently injured QB faced significant pressure against both the Cowboys and Chiefs out of the early season bye.

Andrews' place on the team could change such a trend as the quarterback and LA's offense as a whole look to get back on track without much margin for error.
