Chargers News: The Enigma of LA's Rookie Wide Receiver, Quentin Johnston

It's hard to explain what is going on with him.
In this story:

When the Los Angeles Chargers drafted wide receiver Quentin Johnston out of TCU, it was seen as a great move. The ability of Johnson was supposed to give the Bolts another weapon to use in their offense, and he would make quarterback Justin Herbert's life that much easier.

However, through the first few games of the season, Johnston has looked like a bust of a first-round selection. He hasn't done much of anything, and the team doesn't seem to believe in him.

Against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night, Johnston failed to record one catch and only saw 48 percent of snaps on the field. This is a Chargers offense that lost receiver Mike Williams to injury a few weeks ago, so they need more bodies at the position.

The start to his career hasn't been pretty at all, and if he's not careful, things won't get much better. He has put up just six catches for 44 yards through five games in the Chargers pass-happy offense.

Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore should be trying to utilize him more often, but that hasn't been the case so far. They need to be working to get Johnston into space more to get him going rather than having him run basic route combinations.

His skill set should allow him to be much better than this, so what is going on is a little strange. But the Chargers not playing him doesn't help things either.

Hopefully, he can find a rhythm at some point down the line during his rookie season. He is far too talented to be wasted like this, so the Bolts need to start giving him more playing time.
