Chargers News: Tom Telesco Interviews With Team That Got Him Fired From LA GM Gig
Your Los Angeles Chargers aren't the only team looking for a head coach and general manager. Three other NFL clubs are still on the hunt for both those roles outside of the Chargers. Those teams include the Washington Commanders, the New England Patriots, and LA's division rival, the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders will also look to nail their hires, and there's a chance they could hire the former Chargers general manager Tom Telesco. It was reported last week that Telesco will interview for the Raiders vacant general manager position. ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported that the interview was completed on Tuesday.
Telesco was LA's general manager for 11 seasons before the team kicked the can on him and former head coach Brandon Staley the day after their Thursday night debacle in Week 15 against the Raiders.
As the Bolts' GM, Telesco led LA/San Diego to an 84-92 record, making the playoffs three times and securing two playoff victories. Throughout his tenure, the Chargers had three head coaches: Mike McCoy (2013-2016), Anthony Lynn (2017-2020), and Staley (2021-2023).
His time in Los Angeles may not have ended how he wanted, but he is more than qualified for the position. Before joining the Chargers, Telesco worked for the Indianapolis Colts from 1998-2012, starting as an area scout to vice president of football operations.
It's not a sure thing that LA's division rival will hire the former Bolts general manager, but it sure will be fun to see how he would build Vegas. Hopefully, they don't steal LA's top general manager target at the end of it.
