Chargers News: Watch Austin Ekeler's Tone-Setting First TD Of Chicago Game

Ekeler put on the after-burners.
In this story:

Austin Ekeler started the season off the right way by hauling in 164 total yards and one TD when the Los Angeles Chargers took on the Miami Dolphins in Week 1. Sadly, that game would lead to an ankle injury, knocking him out of the next three games.

Ekeler returned in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys but was still not 100%. Ekeler not being able to go off like he usually does, also made the Bolt's offense seem far less dynamic.

Fans have certainly been waiting for Ekeler to reemerge as the true dual threat that he normally is, and he finally returned to proper form last night during the Chargers beat down of the Chicago Bears.

After a slow start to the game, Justin Herbert rolled out to hit Austin Ekeler behind the line of scrimmage, which should have not been that sizeable of a gain.

Instead of being swallowed up by the myriad of Bears defenders surrounding him, Ekeler skated around and ran it in for the Chargers' first TD of the game.

Though the Bolts haven't been able to capitalize on his speediness due to the ankle injury he sustained in Week 1, this was proof that his ankle ailment is long gone. Ekeler ran it in for a 39-yard TD, reminding the league why he is so dangerous.

Ekeler would finish the night with 123 yards and a TD, as he linked up plenty with Justin Hebert.

When Ekeler and Herbert are on the same page, the Chargers are as dangerous as any team in the NFL.

The hope is that Ekeler and Herbert can remain healthy to carry the team out of their 3-4 record. They are now only two games behind the first-place Chiefs.
