The Los Angeles Chargers drafted rookie WR Quentin Johnston in the first round at pick #21. Johnston came over from TCU, where he brought in 1,069 yards and 6 TDs.

The hope was that the 6'4" receiver could be that tall WR who could leap for contested catches from Justin Herbert. However, his first year in the NFL left a lot to be desired.

Johnston was used sparingly before an injury to Keenan Allen led to far more playing time. The young receiver pulled in 431 yards and 2 TDs, with an 11.3 YPG average. Many believe that Johnston just had a rough first year, and his best is yet to come.

That could be the case, and Johnston is already putting in the work to get better. Pro WR David Robinson showed Johnston in action in a video posted to X.

In the above video, Johnston is shown cutting quickly and leaping up for the ball. If he can improve on his speed, he should make for a very dangerous WR in year two.

The Chargers also own the #5 pick in the draft. That might be used to bring in a WR like LSU's Malik Nabers. Nabers and Johnston could make a lethal duo.

I spoke to Johnston about his first season, and how Jim Harbaugh could be the right coach to unlock his true potential. With his workouts taking place already, he might be ready for a huge breakout second season.
