The Los Angeles Chargers will be entering free agency this year with a certain buzz around them. It comes from their hire of new head coach Jim Harbaugh and makes a strong case for potential free agents to want to join the franchise.

After finishing with a record of 5-12 last season, the Bolts have multiple areas that need upgrading across the roster. One position includes the running back spot, where the Chargers are expected to look around the field.

One name that has been connected with the Bolts most of the offseason has been former New York Giants star back Saquon Barkley. Barkley is looking for a nice payday after another solid season and it seems that the Bolts are seen as "serious suitors" to land the running back.

“The belief is there is still enough shine left in Barkley's game that at least one team will be willing to stretch into double-digits for his services. Undoubtedly, there will be interest in landing what most seem to think is the top running back available. The Los Angeles Chargers, Baltimore Ravens and Chicago Bears are believed to be serious suitors”

Per Jordan Raanan of ESPN

Barkley would fit in with the run-first approach that the Bolts are expected to take now that Harbaugh is running the show. He is a powerful back, who can bulldoze opponents in his path. But he can also catch the ball out of the backfield, giving more versatility to an offense.

If the Chargers can land Barkley, it would be a sign that they are committed to competing as early as next year. He would give them another strong offensive weapon to work with and would be a home-run signing in free agency.
