Chargers Star Defensive Player Isn't Happy With LA Trading Keenan Allen
On Thursday evening, the Los Angeles Chargers shocked everyone by trading away star wide receiver Keenan Allen to the Chicago Bears for a fourth-round pick. Losing Allen had been talked about since the season ended, but not many believed that it was a reality.
Especially given the fact that the Bolts restructured the contracts of some other players, many felt that Allen was safe to stay with the team. But the Bolts front office reportedly asked him to take a pay cut and he declined, which led to the trade.
This led media members, fans and many players of the Chargers to share their reactions on social media. Newly re-signed safety Alohi Gilman took to social media to express his displeasure with the deal.
Gilman re-upped with the Bolts, so this was probably a shock to him. Losing a franchise player like Allen isn't easy to stomach, so it's natural for players to feel blinded.
Allen has meant so much to the Chargers organization over the years, so moving him out of nowhere is a bit harsh. But moves like this remind us that the NFL is a business when all is said and done.
The Bolts will now need to build their wide receiver room out this offseason, given the fact that they also released Mike Williams. There is a new regime in town for the Chargers and one that is focused on doing things their way.
