Former Chargers First-Round Pick Investing In Next Generation of NFL Stars
In a world right now where there are enough hardships and economical issues, sports are meant to be something that unifies us. Especially for children, sometimes a sports team is the earliest form of proper communication and discipline that they will learn in life.
Well former Chargers DT Corey Liuget is ensuring that the youth in San Diego do not have to worry about missing out on that. He recently put together a "House of Pancakes" academy in his city on March 25 that taught children of all ages the skills necessary to succeed in football.
The academy was also free to ensure that anybody that wished to participate did not have to worry about finances. Liuget played eight seasons with the Chargers after getting drafted by them in 2011 and six of those seasons came when they were still in San Diego.
Liuget has had a history of giving back to both his San Diego and Los Angeles communities but this skills camp that he held is a clear example of him investing into the upcoming generation of talent in our world.
"Seeing San Diego come together is huge," said Liuget. "And making sure that football community here in San Diego sticks together and we all just continue to have fun. The important thing that I hope each and every one of these kids takes away is that you can you hone in on your skills when it comes to football but also when it comes to life."

Liuget also made sure that girls could be included as well and hosted a 7 on 7 tournament for them. At 33-years-old, his professional career is likely behind him but he may just be developing the next crop of stars to make it to the league.
When he did suit up for the Chargers, he made his presence felt. In his 108 games with the Bolts, he started 103 of them and posted 274 tackles with 24 sacks during his time there. However, even after his playing career, he is still contributing to the game in a different way.
