In this story:

New Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman not only followed new Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh to LA this offseason, he followed the former Wolverines leader to similar temporary digs, too, as Sam Farmer of The Los Angeles Times notes.

Roman followed head coach Jim Harbaugh to the street across from Huntington Beach, into a temporary RV. Farmer reports that the two homes were 100 feet apart from each other, and both were 14 minutes away from Bolts HQ. Harbaugh has found a new permanent home where his family has joined him, while Roman will do that soon, too.

“Here’s the story,” Roman said. “Jim and I started talking, and I said, ‘You take that Chargers job, man, and I found this RV place right on the beach.’ He goes, ‘Really? Jim Rockford. You’re Jim Rockford. I want to be Jim Rockford. We’re doing this thing.’”

When Harbaugh left his Huntington Beach RV life behind, he gave Roman several DVDs of his favorite show, "The Rockford Files," for inspiration.

“It’s like going back in time for him,” Roman said. “I think that really impacted him as a child. And just like Rockford, Jim is a problem solver. I’ve got a problem and I’ve got to investigate and solve it. That’s him. That investigative thinking, I’m sure that resonated with him as a kid. That’s how he is on the job.”
