Chargers Rumors: Insider Predicts Bolts Acquire Former 1000-Yard Receiver At Trade Deadline

Some needed help for their WR corps.

Your Los Angeles Chargers' passing attack hasn't had nearly the same punch as it did earlier in the season after Mike Williams went down with a torn ACL during Week 3.

The Bolts' heavy reliance on Keenan Allen as their most reliable option isn't enough for Justin Herbert's suddenly limited choices to go toward.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports mentioned a possible trade to solve this issue at wide receiver from a team clearly out of playoff contention.

Chargers get: WR Darnell Mooney, Bears get: 2024 fourth-round pick

Mooney is just two years removed from a 1,000-yard campaign as Chicago’s top wideout, but his role has been greatly reduced since D.J. Moore’s arrival, and the ailing Bears are still looking to offset the value they lost in the Chase Claypool trade. L.A., meanwhile, could use another deep threat for

Mooney hasn't had nearly the same amount of success in the years since his 2021 campaign and a change of scenery could be on the way for the young target.

Justin Fields' injury will keep him sidelined for an unspecified amount of time and all signs point toward an attempt to tank once again for the 2024 draft.

DJ Moore's rise as the Bears' top target thanks to a trade from Carolina this offseason may mean Mooney is on his way out.

Chicago already dealt Chase Claypool to the Dolphins for draft compensation but they might not be done yet in what's been a lost year in the Windy City.

The Chargers would be wise to give Bears GM Ryan Poles a call after their passing attack hasn't been up to scratch despite their elite QB Justin Herbert.

Mooney's injection of speed and dynamic ability to LA's offense could be just what the doctor ordered as the Bolts are desperate to keep pace in the AFC West.
