Justin Herbert's Continued Evolution is Vital for Chargers' Next-Level Success
The Los Angeles Chargers awarded their franchise quarterback Justin Herbert at the start of training camp with a five-year $262.5 million extension.
The contract was no surprise; his team and the Chargers have had it in the works. However, with big money comes big expectations, and that's the case with Herbert. A lot is expected from the 25-year-old on and off the field, and so far, he's living up to those standards.
Teammates are taking notice, including superstar edge rusher Khalil Mack.

Herbert isn't the most rambunctious person in the world, but his teammates need to hear him, not just with his play but his voice.
That's the role of the quarterback; they are the one everyone looks at, especially with a new bag. It looks like Herbert is coming into his own and looking forward to the challenges ahead.
“That's kind of the role of the quarterback is to have that big responsibility,” Herbert said. “I look forward to that challenge. I've grown each year. I've gotten better at that. There is still room for improvement, but I'm going to be the best quarterback, teammate, whatever the team needs me to be. I'm up to the challenge and willing to do it.”

The Chargers will go as far as Justin Herbert takes them. All eyes will be on Herbert now, whether it's his fault or not. People have different expectations when you're paid like a big-time player, and he must show he is that in 2023 and beyond.
Justin seems to be up for it, and we'll find out soon enough.
