Kellen Moore Delves Into Departure from Cowboys

It didn't take long for the Chargers to snag up Moore

The Los Angeles Chargers are going into the 2023 season with a new sense of energy, and a big part of it has to do with new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.

Moore was a hot commodity once he hit the open market as a coordinator, and the Chargers wasted no time snagging him up. After one day of the Dallas Cowboys and Moore mutually parted ways in late January, the very next day, the Chargers hired Moore to become their new OC.

You can't blame the Bolts for wasting no time to acquire him after how he guided the Cowboys to one of the best offenses in his tenure.

It was unexpected to some, but Moore knew it was time for new beginnings and dipped his toes on his departure from Dallas with Chargers insider Lindsey Thiry.

“As we went through the process, sometimes change can be really good for all of us,” said Moore, whose tenure as coordinator included two playoff appearances. “And I felt like I was in that space. It works for both sides.”

The two sides parted ways due to things becoming stale throughout the postseason, and the two sides needed a fresh start.

Many football fans thought Moore would replace head coach Mike McCarthy after another disappointing Cowboy season. Now, McCarthy will be the offensive playcaller for the Cowboys, and Moore is on the West Coast, ready to make his mark with a far superior, younger quarterback and more explosive offensive weapons.

The 35-year-old former QB spent six seasons in the NFL, three with the Lions and three in Dallas. Although things didn't work out for him as a player, he's thriving as an offensive coordinator, and things should only be getting better in LA.
