LA Chargers 3-Round Mock Draft 1.0
Even though it may not feel like it, the 2023 NFL season is going to start heating up soon. We're coming off of the earliest weeks of free agency and rosters have starting to fill out. Your Los Angeles Chargers have been very careful with their cap space and, despite a very awkward Austin Ekeler situation, they are now turning their attention towards the 2023 draft.
This one of the most interesting classes of prospects in some time and there are some elite options at running back and wide receiver, most notably. There are a lot of questions surrounding exactly which direction the team will go in when April 27 rolls around.
Without further ado, let's name our best picks for the Bolts.
1. Zay Flowers (WR, Boston College) Round 1
The Los Angeles Chargers pick up their wide receiver of the future in the first round. There are not many prospects at this position that will fare better in the NFL than Zay Flowers. In his final year at Boston, he strung together his best season with 1,077 receiving yards, 78 receptions, and 12 touchdowns. He is a bit undersized at 5'9 and 182 lbs but his speed and intangibles more than make up for it.
Flowers has been able to thrive playing with different quarterbacks in his collegiate career and this move would allow him to suit up alongside one of the most premier ones in the league in Justin Herbert.
2. Kendre Miller (RB, TCU) Round 2
Unfortunately, it just doesn't look like Austin Ekeler is going to fulfill his destiny of getting that long-term contract with the Chargers. Even if he has to play this coming season in powder blue, the relationship is going to be tainted so why not prepare for the future since now.
Kendre Miller is not the most hyped prospect at running back coming into the draft but his IQ and leadership qualities make him quite the intriguing option for an LA squad that would need to fill a big role if Ekeler is out. Miller had a pretty stellar 2022 season with TCU that saw him record 1399 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. His impact on LA would be immediate.
3. Gervon Dexter (DT, Florida)
It's becoming a running joke amongst the Chargers' fanbase that they are completely ignoring their defensive needs. If they want to seriously contend and compete in their division, this will have to change.
Dexter is one of the most skilled players on the opposite side of the ball and holds every capability to continue dominating at the professional level.
