Did a Los Angeles Chargers assistant coach accidentally tip the franchise's hand at what they may do in the upcoming draft?

Passing game coordinator Marcus Brady was interviewed Monday during a media scrum. He touched on a number of different topics, ranging from existing players on the roster to potential plans moving forward to get the franchise in a position to win.

Possessing the No. 5 overall pick, many within the industry assume the Chargers will take a receiver at some point in the draft. The team will have to replace both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams in the wake of both being moved this offseason.

James Brizuela of Charger Report was on hand to capture the moment:

When asked about the preexisting receivers on the team, Brady admitted that the team has to "fill the room" moving forward.

It's a bit of a curious comment. On one hand, it's not exactly a revelatory statement. On the other hand, does this mean the team may stand pat and select the best available player?

If conventional wisdom is correct, the top-three picks will likely be quarterbacks (Caleb Wilson, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels) in some order. From there, it's anyone's guess as to how the draft will shake out.

If the Chargers do stay at No. 5, they should have the opportunity to take a very talented receiver. Arizona may nab Marvin Harrison Jr. with the No. 4 overall pick (if it's not dealt elsewhere). Even then, the Chargers could theoretically take LSU's Malik Nabers or Washington's Rome Odunze.

Odunze is an excellent route runner with good size and above-average athletic ability. Nabers is a burner, and someone who mimics Tyreek Hill with his ability to take the top off an opposing defense.

As currently constituted, the best receiver currently on the roster is Josh Palmer. Former first-round pick Quentin Johnston needs to take another step in order to warrant the Chargers taking him as high as they did.

From there, it's anyone's guess as to how the franchise will fill out this position group.
