Michigan Finds Jim Harbaugh Replacement 2 Days After He Joins Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers were able to coax Jim Harbaugh out of the college world and right back into the NFL. It was the biggest coaching acquisition the team had seen in years, and it was against a tough offer that Michigan was offering.
Harbaugh's previous team offered a 10-year $125 million extension that would have kept him as the highest-paid college coach for years to come. While the details of why he chose the Chargers over that have not been made public yet, there have been rumblings it came down to protecting him from upcoming sanctions.
Either way, Harbaugh decided to leave behind the team he coached to a National Championship to instead attempt to secure a Super Bowl win.
Michigan lost a big coach in Harbaugh, but the team has already pivoted to their new head coach. It's a name most Michigan fans are aware of.
Offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Sherrone Moore has been promoted to be Michigan's next head coach. Many believed this would be the case after it hinted that Harbaugh would be leaving.
Moore has the benefit of having been with the team since 2018, which means he got to learn from Harbaugh this entire time. There was likely no one better than Moore to replace Harbaugh.
We will see how Michigan responds with Moore at the helm.
