New Chargers WR's 1st Financial Decision on Draft Day
When the Los Angeles Chargers welcomed Quentin Johnston, it caught majority of the fanbase off guard. So many mock drafts had slated a number of top offensive prospects to the Bolts but few experts had predicted the TCU product to end up in LA.
The silence from Chargers fans who attended the draft day party spoke very loud as many were praying on Bijan Robinson falling to the franchise's 21st pick. When that didn't happen, many believed their TE hole would be filled with Michael Mayer or if they went the WR route, they would look in the direction of Zay Flowers or Jordan Addison.
However, LA knew exactly who they wanted and they see Johnston making an immediate impact within the team. No matter what the reception from the fans initially was when his name got called, his childhood dream has been fulfilled and he made sure that his first decision took care of the person that helped make it all happen.
"I just want to give a big shoutout to my mom, she's gonna be putting in her two weeks today," said Johnston. "She can retire. I don't want you working another day."

Most players would immediately look to purchase something of their dreams like a new car or house but not Johnston. His first thought was to ensure that his mother would never have to worry about sacrificing anything for work again.
This type of selflessness had to have played a role in LA bringing Johnston into the organization. Beyond just talent on the field, he is going to be representing the Chargers for years to come and it's clear he has his priorities set right.
