New NFL Mock Draft Has Chargers Taking Biletnikoff Award Finalist in First Round
Your Los Angeles Chargers have a significant offseason ahead of them. While all eyes are on the head coach and general manager search, your Bolts also have a number five pick to worry about.
The Chargers must hit on this first round draft pick, and time will only tell. This 2024 draft class is as loaded as it can be; the Bolts can’t do no wrong with the flurry of options. However, NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah projects that Los Angeles will go with 2023 Biletnikoff Award Finalist, Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze with the fifth overall pick.
Odunze is my favorite player in the draft. He’s a complete receiver. The Chargers have salary-cap decisions to make with
Keenan Allen
and
Mike Williams
. This would be a home run addition for
Justin Herbert
.

Odunze finished second in the Biletnikoff Award, which recognizes the most outstanding FBS receiver in the nation. Although he didn't take home the award, there's no denying his talent. In 15 games in 2023, Odunze had 92 receptions for 1640 yards and 17.8 yards per catch along with 13 touchdowns. In the rushing side of things, the redshirt junior rushed the ball twice for 37 yards and had one rushing touchdown, the first of his collegiate career.
Odunze's best game came against the Oregon Ducks in October where he racked up 128 yards on eight receptions and two touchdowns. The Chargers are in desperate need of another pass catcher and with so many of them available in this draft, Oduzne would be a great pick.
