NFL Expert Questions if Chargers will Fizzle Out in Wild Card Again
The Los Angeles Chargers' 2022 campaign ended in dramatic fashion and it was probably in the worst way they could have wished for.
And I am not saying losing in the Wild Card meant it was a complete failure of a season because if nothing else, the Bolts showed a lot of heart to even get there. Their winning streak near the end of the regular season made it possible to do so and Jacksonville was a sneaky-good matchup. It was an offensive duel between two of the best young quarterbacks in Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence.
But it was just the fact everybody could see that 27-point lead crumbling each snap. LA's offense completely disappeared and their defense allowed completions and first rounds like it was Christmas. Obviously, the primary goal this offseason was to give Herbert more passing targets while sprinkling some money into the defensive line but the NFL's Nick Shook isn't completely sold just yet.
"Will the Chargers add enough depth in the draft to make it beyond Super Wild Card Weekend?
"Los Angeles loaded up in what was an arms race of a 2022 offseason in the AFC West, and it paid off to a degree: The Chargers reached the postseason, surviving enough to post 10 wins and earn a date with the upstart Jaguars as a wild-card team… Repeating the same finish in 2023 won't be acceptable, but Los Angeles didn't have the same type of financial power to make massive splashes this offseason. They still added a veteran playmaker in Eric Kendricks and kept a few important pieces, largely keeping their core intact."

It is very true that the Bolts need to prove everybody wrong moving forward and show they're an improved team from last year.
