Talent and big names can only take a group in the NFL so far. A full roster typically holds around 53 players and when a game takes place, there are only 11 of those guys on offense and 11 of them on defense. The coaching staff that oversees all of these professional athletes hold the keys to their success.

Despite all of the improvements that your Los Angeles Chargers made in 2022, we saw just how many times they looked lost on offense in crunch time moments. It seemed like Justin Herbert could not get an open look at any of his receivers and Austin Ekeler had no clear path whenever he tried to run the ball. On paper, LA should've had one of the most consistent offenses in the league but they failed to even crack the top 10 in scoring.

This is the main reason why in Bleacher Report's top offseason additions for each squad, writer Kristopher Knox was all for the Chargers' signing of Kellen Moore as their offensive coordinator.

"After the season, the Chargers fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi and hired former Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as his replacement. Moore should help bring much-needed balance and efficiency to the Chargers offense."

"Under Moore, the 2022 Cowboys ranked ninth in rushing yards, 14th in passing yards, 11th in total offense and fourth in scoring. Since Moore took over as Dallas' coordinator in 2019, the Cowboys have ranked sixth, first and fourth in scoring in the three years with a healthy Dak Prescott under center."

"Los Angeles still needs to address a run defense that ranked dead last in yards per carry allowed last season (5.4), but the offense should be one of the league's best under Moore."

The Chargers were active at the beginning of free agency, acquiring Eric Kendricks and also res-signing some important guys from their roster last season. Donald Parham was their most important offensive player that they retained and now that he looks to be recovered from a lingering head injury, he will fit in nicely at that TE position.

But unless LA makes a blockbuster trade for an offensive stud in an Austin Ekeler deal, it does look like their biggest win will be their newest offensive coordinator. Tons of Chargers fans are ready to see all the potential he will unlock.
