Chargers News: Why Writer Believes Bolts Back Is Fantasy No-Brainer, Despite Injury Absence

He should be able to pick up right where he left off!

Your Los Angeles Chargers will be welcoming running back Austin Ekeler back to the lineup against the Dallas Cowboys this week. His presence in the lineup will open things up heavily for the Bolts offense, and it should help them move the ball on the Dallas defense.

Los Angeles struggled to run the ball without Ekeler in the lineup, and it led to some shaky play on the offensive side of the ball. Ekeler hasn’t played since week one, but he should pick up where he left off.

NFL fantasy writer Kyle Soppe of Pro Football Network believes that Ekeler is a no-brainer start, even with him coming back from missing multiple weeks due to injury.

“The one time we saw him this season was a 20-touch, 24.4-point effort against the Miami Dolphins, and he was replaced by RB Joshua Kelley (Weeks 2-4: 2.8 yards per carry). Much like the situation for the Packers or Giants, the starting running back missed time and returned positioned to see an increase in workload due to the failures of his replacement. It’s obviously not a soft landing spot for Ekeler to return after a month off, but there should be zero hesitation about plugging him in.”

Getting Ekeler back into the mix will help everything for the Bolts offense, so starting him is the correct play. Ekeler has been dominant when he does play, and against a Cowboys defense that is prone to making some mistakes, he could have a field day.

The Chargers will likely try to get him back into the rhythm of things, so he could see many targets early on in the game. Plus, any red zone action for the Chargers offense will likely be given to Ekeler to handle.

Ekeler is a must-start this week, and every week to come, as long as he is healthy!
